I am a college professor turned instructional designer, and I specialize in delivering meaningful, transformative learning experiences to adult learners. My passions for teaching and writing enable me to communicate through compelling stories that make an emotional and intellectual connection with target audiences. I love to take complex ideas and translate them into clear, user-centered content that is easily understood.

I also do freelance editing and writing, and you can find samples of work in the Content and Social Media for Real Estate and Book Editing sections. As a professional, I have excelled at project management, content creation, and multiple learning technologies.

Publishing - Assisted authors by editing nonfiction books for Scott H. Gloodt (I'll Take the 18: The Story of Beech 18 Freight Flying) and Christopher Baker (Fake Professor).

Education - Maintained and updated website for Embodied Education Institute of Chicago.

Real Estate - Operated social media platforms and increased web presence for Your Home Team Brokers..

Marketing - Employed several technology platforms to spearhead a first-of-its-kind project for Calque Marketing, researching, collecting, and cataloging online published material.

Adjunct Instructor

Wilbur Wright College, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago, IL

August 2011 – December 2023

Designed and taught First-Year Composition and Literature courses, utilizing modern teaching methodologies to engage and challenge learners. Researched and developed syllabi, readings, rubrics, schedules, and assignments. Served on committees to improve curricula, heighten students' critical thinking, and increase retention.

Crafted all phases of the design process for 4 college courses per semester, both online and in-person, delivering learning experiences that engaged students and aligned with expected learning outcomes of the college.

Served as Cohort Chair in a leadership position, providing faculty with a forum to exchange ideas, identify teaching best practices, and foster a collaborative, caring community.

Revitalized traditional teaching methods by leveraging the principles of User Experience (UX) and Universal Design (UD) to create compelling remote learning experiences for diverse audiences.

Transformed traditional face-to-face classroom instruction into 100% online learning in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. Created an innovative learning system to accommodate remote, online, or in-person educational opportunities.

Broadened teaching expertise beyond Composition courses by taking ownership of design and delivery of a Literature course. Leveraged planning, organizing, researching, and writing skills to create a highly rated student learning experience.

Organized and coordinated annual student conferences designed to share creative and academic writing with their peers.

Writing Center Consultant

Wilbur Wright College, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago, IL

January 2012 – December 2023

Recruited by Co-Director to tutor 800+ students of all levels per year, covering variety of topics and writing techniques including thesis development, finding/citing sources, brainstorming, and proofreading for syntax, grammar, clarity, and tone.

Created exceptional customer service experiences to attract students and garner referrals from university professors, parents, and local community. Developed rapport with repeat clients to encourage long-term learning relationships. 

Collaborated with colleagues to identify learning best practices. Researched analogous writing center websites and policies to incorporate into college website and training manual. Facilitated group presentations on essential writing skills.

Assisted students in understanding concepts previously taught to them by their professors. Created a learning environment that encouraged students to do the work, learn from their mistakes, and gain confidence in their abilities.

Researched and wrote grant proposals while working on a special grant writing committee created to seek funds in support of Wright College Writing Center’s growing client base.
